Details & Itinerary
On March 22, 1933, a few weeks after Adolf Hitler had been appointed Reich Chancellor, a concentration camp for political prisoners was set up in Dachau. This camp served as a model for all later concentration camps and as a “school of violence” for the SS men under whose command it stood. In the twelve years of its existence over 200.000 persons from all over Europe were imprisoned here and in the numerous subsidary camps. 41.500 were murdered. On April 29 1945, American troops liberated the survivors.
Note: Parents, your children must be 12 years and older to join this tour. I recommend all young people be exposed to some history and images of the holocaust before they visit.

Dachau was not only the first concentration camp but it would also become the first international concentration camp memorial site in the Federal Republic of Germany in 1965. It has become an important place of learning, memory and rememberance for thousands of visitors each year.
This tour to the Concentration Camp Memorial will be given with sensitivity and scholarship. I will lead you through the original structures and will help you to experience Dachau most of all through the eyes of the prisoners, which is one of the main intention of the survivors and their successors.
I have been working as a “fully accredited” guide for the Dachau Memorial Site since 2008.
